I’m a true romantic at heart, and It fills me with so much joy to know that I get to work with so many amazing couples like you.
There’s something about the night before a wedding that feels completely different from the wedding day itself. The anticipation is there, but everything still feels a little slower, a little softer. Randi and Reed’s rehearsal dinner at Callaway Gardens was exactly that, a relaxed evening in Pine Mountain surrounded by the people who know and love them best. There were cocktails and long conversations, laughter around the tables, heartfelt speeches, and this quiet excitement underneath it all knowing that tomorrow, they’d be getting married.

The evening began with everyone gathering together, settling in, catching up, and simply enjoying each other. And I think that’s one of my favorite things about rehearsal dinners. There isn’t quite the same timeline or anticipation pulling you from one thing to the next. You actually get to sit across from your people, linger over dinner, hear the stories being told at the other end of the table, and soak in the fact that everyone you love has come together for you.
Randi and Reed’s dinner felt warm and thoughtful from beginning to end. The tables were layered with greenery, flickering candles, woven textures, and the prettiest colorful florals, making the whole room feel cozy as evening settled in outside. Between dinner and speeches were all those little moments that might seem ordinary while they’re happening, someone leaning across the table mid-conversation, a friend laughing until their whole face changes, family catching up. Those are often the photographs that end up meaning more with time.

We also slipped away for a few portraits of Randi and Reed by the water, and I loved how simple this part of the evening felt. No wedding-day rush, no big production. Just the two of them walking out onto the dock together, holding each other close and letting themselves be excited about what was coming.
Having this little pocket of time during their rehearsal dinner at Callaway Gardens gave us something different from the portraits we’d create the next day. These photos hold the feeling of almost. Almost married. Almost at the day they had spent so much time planning. There’s something really sweet about documenting who you were together in those final hours before everything begins.

Your wedding photographs tell the story of your wedding day, but sometimes the story really begins the night before. Rehearsal dinner coverage gives space to photograph the people and conversations that can easily move too quickly once the wedding begins. It means the speeches your closest people give, the hugs when everyone arrives, the cocktails shared between old friends, and the quieter moments with family become part of the story too.
It can also take a little pressure off the wedding day itself. There’s already time set aside for candid photos with some of your favorite people, and maybe even a few relaxed portraits together, without trying to squeeze another thing into an already full timeline. Most of all, though, it allows you to remember the entire feeling of your wedding weekend, not only the moment you said “I do,” but the anticipation, connection, and joy that surrounded you before you ever walked down the aisle.

If you’re planning a wedding weekend that’s about more than just one day, I’d love for your photographs to feel that way too. Your rehearsal dinner doesn’t have to be elaborate to be worth remembering. Sometimes it’s simply a long table, the people you love most, a glass raised in your direction, and that unmistakable feeling that something really special is about to happen. If having those quieter, in-between pieces of your story documented feels important to you, I’d love to be there for them, the night before, the wedding day, and all the goodness tucked between.
