I’m a true romantic at heart, and It fills me with so much joy to know that I get to work with so many amazing couples like you.
There’s something so good about an engagement session that feels less like a photoshoot and more like spending an afternoon doing something you already love together. Mabel and James’ engagement session in Brunswick was exactly that, playful, a little competitive, and completely relaxed. With a soccer ball between them and the warm evening light stretching across the court, they got to run around, laugh, tease each other, and simply be themselves. And somewhere in the middle of all that movement were these really sweet, quiet moments that made the whole session feel so true to who they are together.

Soccer is something Mabel and James genuinely love, so bringing it into their engagement photos felt like such an easy choice. Instead of trying to make the session feel like something it wasn’t, we leaned all the way into it. They chased each other across the court, went after the ball, attempted a few handstands, and let a little friendly competition take over. There was no pressure to stand perfectly or wonder what to do with their hands, they already had something to focus on, and the rest just happened naturally.
I love engagement sessions like this because movement has a way of bringing out the little things you can’t really plan for. The huge laughs. The playful looks from across the court. Reaching for each other between moments. Even the way they naturally found their way back together after running around. It all felt easy, which is exactly what I want an engagement session to feel like.

And then, tucked between all of that playful energy, everything would soften for a second. Mabel and James would lean into each other, laugh a little quieter, or share a kiss while the sun settled lower behind them. Those moments felt even sweeter because nothing about the session had been overly planned. We made space for both sides of their relationship, the playful, energetic side and the softer connection underneath it.
Your engagement photos don’t have to look like anyone else’s to be meaningful. Sometimes the best place to start is simply asking what the two of you actually enjoy doing together. Maybe that’s dressing up and wandering downtown, spending an evening by the water, or, like Mabel and James, grabbing a soccer ball and seeing where the evening takes you. When the session feels familiar to you, there’s room to relax into each other, and that’s usually where the photographs start to feel the most like home.

If the idea of standing still and posing for an entire session doesn’t sound like you, you don’t have to. Your engagement photos can be playful, a little messy, full of movement, or centered around something you genuinely love doing together. If you’re dreaming of an engagement session in Brunswick that feels relaxed, personal, and true to your relationship, I’d love to hear what makes the two of you you.
