I’ve always believed that the best businesses are built on stories, not timelines. Looking back over the last decade, it’s incredible to see how a dream that started with one camera. One leap of faith, and a whole lot of heart has grown into something I never could have imagined. As a Savannah wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing some of life’s most meaningful moments. And celebrating ten years of Barefoot Royalty Photography feels less like celebrating a business and more like celebrating every couple, every adventure, and every chapter that brought me here.

10 Years as a Savannah Wedding Photographer: It All Started With a Leap of Faith

Ten years ago, photography was simply something I loved. I had always been drawn to preserving memories, collecting keepsakes, and finding beauty in the little moments that often go unnoticed. In 2016, I upgraded my hobby camera, invested in my dream lens. And made what felt like a wildly intimidating decision at the time. I decided to see what would happen if I pursued photography professionally.

At the time, I was working full-time as a Recreation Therapist in the mental health field while building my business during every spare moment I had. Those years taught me resilience, patience, and just how much passion can grow when you’re willing to bet on yourself. Eventually, my husband and I packed up our lives, left the cold winters of Upstate New York behind, and made the move to Georgia. That decision changed everything. Not only did it lead me to the place I now proudly call home, but it also allowed Barefoot Royalty Photography to grow into the business I had always dreamed it could become.

What 10 Years of Love Stories Have Taught Me

Somewhere along the way, I realized this was never just about beautiful photographs. It’s about creating space for couples to slow down, breathe, and simply be together. The quiet hand squeezes before the ceremony. The laughter that happens between poses. The tears, the nerves, the joy, and the overwhelming feeling of “we’re really doing this.” Those are the moments that matter most to me.

Over the last decade, I’ve photographed engagements, intimate weddings, elopements, anniversaries, and countless milestones that happened long after the wedding day was over. I’ve met incredible people who started as clients and became friends. I’ve been honored to have my work recognized, including being named a Best of Georgia Regional winner, but the greatest accomplishment will always be the trust my couples place in me to preserve their memories for generations to come.

Looking Ahead to the Next Chapter

If you’ve spent any time getting to know me. You know I’m happiest by the ocean, traveling somewhere new, surrounded by my husband and our rescue animals, or dreaming about the next adventure. Those parts of me have shaped this business just as much as photography itself. My love for nature, storytelling, art, and genuine human connection is woven into every gallery I deliver.

Ten years later, I still get butterflies before a wedding day. I still tear up during heartfelt vows. I still chase golden light whenever I can. And I still believe that the most meaningful photographs aren’t the perfectly posed ones. They’re the ones that remind you exactly how it felt to be there. As Barefoot Royalty Photography enters its next decade. My heart is full of gratitude for every couple who has trusted me with their story. And I’m more excited than ever for all the love stories that are still waiting to be told.
